Who am I?
I am chef Kevin Penner in East Hampton, NY. I currently run the kitchen at cittanuova in East Hampton. I have served as the chef (or co-chef) at a number of restaurants in East Hampton. Della Femina, The Star Room, The 1770 House, cittanuova and Wei Fun. I was also responsible for opening all of these restaurants as well as Della Femina-NYC.
Prior to coming to East Hampton in 1992 to open Della Femina I worked in Seattle, Chicago and NYC at a number of fine restaurants.
I have been fortunate over the years to have appeared in a good amount of media. On television, most frequently on The Food Network, I have appeared on the following shows: The Barefoot Contessa, The Best Thing I Ever Ate, The Next Food Network Star & Food Nation with Bobby Flay. I have appeared on The Travel Channel on a show called Forbes Luxe 11: Billionaires Playgrounds. All in a days work.
Over the course of 25 years in a lot of different kitchens I have developed and maintained a fondness for all things hospitality-related: food, service, wine, lodging and travel. I go to restaurants as often as I can. I travel as much as I can. And I always try to bring an open mind and a hunger for anything new or unusual.
The one accomplishment over the years that I am most proud of is having trained and mentored a number of other successful chefs who now run their own critically acclaimed and admired kitchens.
